Sainte Croix du Mont
A site of steep hillsides overlooks the Garonne, too little knowndespite its charm, and a wine having suffered too long (on a par with other sweet from the right bank, Loupiac and Cadillac) bya reputation as wine wedding or banquet.
However, this appellation area in front of Sauternes deserves much better:its good soil, usually limestone areas with gravel, adds a favorable microclimate for the development of botrytis. As for the grapes and thevinification methods, they are very close to those of Sauternes. Wines, semi-sweet than liquor wines, offer a pleasant impression of fruitiness. We serve them as their counterparts on the left bank, but their affordable priceswill encourage using them on sumptuous cocktails.
